C just celebrated her fourth birthday (I KNOW!), and one of the cool gifts she got was Leonardo, the Terrible Monster. She’s taken the book with her to school for her teacher to read, and we’ve read it every night since she got it on Saturday.

Well, last night, she read it to me and Pete. And she got just about every word right. It was adorable.

She slept all night Thursday night and was so proud of herself. Last night, she woke called out for me. I stumbled into her room and offered to get into bed with her, thinking it was nearly dawn. Then I looked at the clock. 2:00am. It took us a while to get comfortable, but in the morning, I learned from Pete that C and I slept through a thunderstorm.

Anyway, progress is being made!

Why is it that C will wake up early and ready to go on the weekends, but will sleep in on weekdays?

Well, the first thing she asks us on Saturday and Sunday morning is, “Do I have to go to school today?” And then: “No? Cool! I’ll bring you a book, climb in bed and then pry your eyelids open.
